Top 5 DIY Bloggers

I've always had a creative hand, but it wasn't until Pinterest came around that I took my crafting to the next level. Thus leading me to DIY bloggers and now I'm hooked and have to do something with Modge Podge at least once a week!!! In order to not get overwhelmed with all the awesome DIY Bloggers I've limited myself to five of my favorite blogs to focus on.

Glitter N' Glue: Kristen from Glitter N'Glue is a fashion stylist turned blogger. She is absolutely AMAZING and I love everything she makes!

Honestly WTF: Erica and Lauren are the two creative minds behind this blog. Not only do they have really cool DIY projects, they also blog about fashion, home, travels and much more!

Trinkets in Bloom: Cathy from Trinkets in Bloom is strictly DIY EVERYTHING! Some awesome jewelry ideas, bags and even decorated clothing

Stripes & Sequins: Grace is the voice behind Stripes and Sequins a fashion & DIY blog for the sparkle obsessed.

A Pair and A Spare: another great DIY blogger with a major love for fashion. Geneva is awesome and also have a published DIY book called DIY Fashionista

While I know there are many more amazing DIY bloggers out there, these are just a few of my faves!

Lucy and Me

Recently I noticed that I have never really explained the reason I call my jewelry line Lucy and Me Jewelry. Today I feel like this post is acceptable for it would be my sister Lucy's 31st birthday! (Happy Birthday Goosehead!)10 years ago Lucy passed away from a rare form of non-hodgkins lymphoma. It was a fast and quick fight ending with my sister passing away after 7 months of battling the horrible disease.

It's taken me many years to get to a good place with it all, and I still miss her so much everyday. In hopes of keeping her in my heart and in my mind always, I decided that I would honor her with my jewelry line and thus brings me to my decision to name my line after her.

My favorite picture of us together!

House Renovation Dreams

Lately I have been pinning like crazy due to my lack of a job, and I decided that I might as well pin some potential ideas for my house renovation. So this week I'm linking up for WILW and Oh How Pinteresting!!!

Here are various things that I have pinned into my secret boards in hopes of making this pin dreams come true in a few months once we move back into our house!!

To maximize space in my bathroom and have clutter free counter tops!

This could definitely go in my bead room for inspiration purposes!

This is a definite must in my kitchen.

If for some weird reason they are able to salvage my bathtub, I'm definitely thinking about doing my shower curtains like this!

I'm a sucker for pink

As well as a sucker for chevron!

Absolutely love this idea of painting ceiling medallions for wall art!

I love everything about this!

No caption needed...every girl needs this.

I have other ideas in the back of my head and on my secret pin board, but I like to think this is a good start!

Which pin is your favorite?

Washi Tape

Up until recently I haven't really thought much about the Washi tape trend, but when I decided to buy my first pack at Target recently (yes, Target! Go get some now) I realized I had been missing an awesome trend. Since Lucy and Me Jewelry is a local handmade jewelry line, I've tried to make everything handmade. From my business cards and labels, to my gift bags that I give my customers at trunks shows.

Now with the use of Washi tape I can use it to make my jewelry line even more unique.
Here are some of my favorite Washi tape examples from Pinterest.

Add a pop of color to your furniture!

Add some fun to boring clothes pins!

Washi Bows!

Spruce up an old notebook!!
Have you fallen in love with Washi tape like I have? What is your favorite thing to do with it?

Active Workout Gear: Old Navy

As apart of the new me and my new years resolution to be healthy, I decided I needed to grab a few more workout essentials. While I absolutely LOVE Lululemon, being unemployed doesn't allow me to enjoy those luxuaries like I use too! So when Old Navy sent me my daily email about sales, I couldn't help but look at the amazing deals on their workout brand called Active.

Now while I have gotten some Active brand clothing before, but as of late I am SUPER impressed with their winter gear! I've been on a mission to find a great pair of running tights that fit well and when doing my Old Navy research I stumbled upon blogger Julie who gave an awesome review on Active.  So the next morning, I headed to Old Navy and the rest was history.

I first went straight to the pants and picked up a pair of Active Compression Leggings
Priced at $26.94
Then I headed to the tops and picked up this beauty!
Priced slashed down to $9.97!
And last, but definitely not least I headed to the workout jackets...
Priced at $22.94

Not only did I get a great new workout outfit, but I didn't break the bank! I'm definitely going to have to grab another color in the pants as well as the tank! I just can't get enough!

xoxo,
P.S.  Did you know that studies have shown that when you buy cute workout clothes it tends to get you in the mood to workout more? I can definitely agree!

The Beard Gang

Since I'm on a post spree about my beloved alma mater, I thought I philanthropy that have evolved out of NCSU that I am proud of! In order to fully understand what the Beard Gang is all about, here is the groups description on their Facebook page:

Beard Gang originated through an idea between two friends, Jeremy Deckelbaum and N.C State’s basketball player, Richard Howell. Beard Gang started during the fall basketball season of 2011 as a fan club for Rich Howell. At first players and friends started asking for Beard Gang shirts for themselves, and then students from all over campus began showing an interest in buying shirts as well. Jeremy quickly realized that he could do something positive for the community with the profit he was making from selling more shirts. With the help of a friend, Cole Jordan, Beard Gang decided to redirect its focus on a charitable cause.

Through the loss of Rich’s little sister, Brianna Howell, we decided we wanted to help young children. The Deckelbaum family’s involvement with the Make-A-Wish Foundation solidified our choice in donating all of our profits to this wonderful organization. Last year Beard Gang was able to raise $10,000, which they donated in full to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. This year, the “Beard Gang Family” has expanded with the help of 12 more N.C State students in hopes to surpass our achievements from last year and to help grant more wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

Happies and Crappies

Today I am excited to join a new link-up called the Happies and Crappies from Sarah and Stephanie to tell you about the good and bad things of my week!

The Happies:
For starters, I got some AMAZING workout gear from Old Navy this week. I have a post queued up for next week so DON'T forget to check it out. Secondly, I'm so happy that I found a new show to obsess over and that is Revenge! Lastly, I'm super happy about my calorie counter Maybook that shipped today! I can't wait to use it!

The Crappies:
First and foremost, the rain that has been happening in Raleigh, NC this week is really depressing me. Secondly, the job hunt is not going anywhere, thus my bank account is dwindling and lastly my cats are REALLY annoying me at this moment. (haha!)

There you go blog fam! That's my week in a nutshell, give or take a few things! Maybe next week I will double my Happies and Crappies! Until then!

Saw It. Pinned It. Did it.

Today I'm linking up to show you my newest Pinterest Creation and I'm so excited to share my creation with you!

While this is probably one of the most simple DIY crafts I've ever done, I'm so happy that I finally took the plunge!

Image via Pinterest

Supplies Needed:
-Jars of any size (can even be a Mason jar)
-E-600 Glue (AMAZING STUFF)
-Clear candle stick

Steps:
-Choose desired jar
-Cover the top rim of the candle stick with E-600 glue
-Set candle stick in place on the bottom of the jar (I turned jar upside down, made the gluing easier)
-Then let it set for 20 minutes

Perfect for my toothbrush and toothpaste!!

And perfect for my new Headbands of Hope!!

Have any of you tried this pin? It only took a whopping 5 bucks to make!!!

Making something old, new again.

This past summer I had the privilege and joy of working with one of my great friends Holly (who is a fellow blogger and AMAZING at furniture refurbishing) on a piece of jewelry for her brothers up and coming wedding later on in the summer. The piece of jewelry started with a pair of vintage resin mold earrings that were her grandmothers! They were beautiful earrings but they had clip on backs. Holly put them in my hands and let me have free reign on what I should do with them.

Here is the finished product! I wish I could find my picture of the necklace, but this will do! As you can see, the necklace is simple yet perfectly matched with Holly's outfit (sorry for cropping the photo Holly!!!). I chose to make the two earrings into pendants for a layering necklace that could be worn long or short like in the picture.

So recently before Christmas, while watching Holly's two sweet boys Jack and James she brought me some more goodies to have some fun with.

Like a dummy, I totally forgot to take a before shot. Here are the finished results...

Originally a broach!

The blue pieces were originally clip on earrings!

Originally two sweater clips!

All three use to be clip on earrings, now they have post!

Originally clip on earrings!!

Originally clip ons!

Originally clip ons!

The buttons at the top use to cuff links and the bottom pair of earrings use to be sweater clips!

Originally clip ons!

Originally these use to be stones on a bracelet, now earrings

Cuff links glued and transformed into necklaces!

The whole lot!!!

I had SO much fun working on these awesome pieces of jewelry and I can't wait to add this service to my list of jewelry work!!!

Do you have any old pieces of jewelry you wish to revamp? Email me at lucyandmejewelry24@gmail.com and we can make it happen!
